Cardo launches PACKTALK-S, 4X-S integrated comm systems for Shoei Gen 3 helmets

Cardo Systems has introduced two new integrated communication platforms — the PackTalk-S and 4X-S — designed specifically for Shoei Gen 3 helmets, expanding options for riders seeking a factory-fit communication solution.

The new systems are engineered to integrate directly into the Shoei GT-Air 3, Shoei Neotec 3, and Shoei J-Cruise 3, utilizing built-in communication cavities to eliminate the need for external clamp-on units. The result is a streamlined design that maintains helmet aerodynamics, balance, and overall comfort while delivering a factory-installed appearance.

“We’ve heard from riders for years that they love Cardo’s communication systems but want a solution that integrates more seamlessly with their helmets,” says Dan Emodi, chief marketing officer at Cardo Systems. “With the PackTalk-S, we’ve listened to that feedback to create a system that delivers the full Cardo experience in a helmet-specific integration that riders have been asking for.”

The PackTalk-S is built on Cardo’s flagship platform and features second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC), targeting group riders with connectivity of up to 1 mile between units. The system also includes 40 mm JBL speakers and up to 13 hours of talk time.

The 4X-S offers a Bluetooth-based alternative designed for smaller riding groups, supporting intercom connectivity for up to four riders while also incorporating 40 mm JBL speakers for premium audio performance.

Why it matters

The launch reflects a growing trend toward OEM-integrated accessories that enhance both performance and aesthetics. Helmet-specific communication systems can drive higher-margin accessory sales at the point of purchase, particularly when bundled with premium helmets like Shoei’s Gen 3 lineup.

The integrated design also simplifies installation for dealership service departments, reducing labor time compared to traditional clamp-on systems while minimizing fitment concerns.

The integrated design also simplifies installation for dealership service departments, reducing labor time compared to traditional clamp-on systems while minimizing fitment concerns. In addition, the premium positioning of both the PackTalk-S and 4X-S aligns with customers already investing in high-end helmets, creating a natural upsell opportunity.

The PackTalk-S was released in April with a U.S. MSRP of $419.95, while the 4X-S will retail for $299.95. Both systems will be available through Cardo’s dealer network and direct channels.

Turn 14 Distribution adds Counteract balancing solutions for powersports dealers

Turn 14 Distribution has expanded its powersports catalog with the addition of Counteract balancing products, bringing dynamic internal tire balancing solutions to motorcycle, UTV and ATV dealers across the U.S.

The move adds a new category of service-focused products to Turn 14’s growing powersports offering, giving authorized dealers access to internal balancing alternatives designed for a wide range of applications, including street, touring, adventure and off-road motorcycles, as well as utility and recreational side-by-sides and ATVs.

Counteract specializes in internal balancing beads and pre-measured kits that are installed inside the tire during mounting. As the tire rotates, the material distributes itself to help balance the assembly, offering an alternative to traditional external weights.

The product lineup includes motorcycle-specific kits sized for common tire dimensions, along with UTV and ATV options engineered for larger off-road tires. The kits are packaged for efficiency in dealership service departments and can be used during routine tire installation or replacement.

“Adding Counteract’s motorcycle and off-road balancing solutions gives our dealers access to internal balancing options that span multiple powersports segments,” says Alex Lesslie, divisional purchasing director at Turn 14 Distribution. “This product line supports both on-road and off-road applications and fits naturally within the service workflows of powersports dealers and service departments.”

Why it matters

Internal balancing products can streamline tire installs by eliminating the need for external weights, potentially reducing labor time and providing an additional upsell during tire replacement.

The expanded catalog also allows dealers to source more service-related products from a single distributor, simplifying ordering and inventory management. With demand for UTV and ATV service continuing to grow, especially in off-road-heavy regions, products like Counteract’s balancing kits offer another way for dealerships to capture service revenue and differentiate their maintenance programs.

Turn 14 Distribution said the addition aligns with its broader strategy of providing dealers with access to specialized aftermarket solutions that support modern vehicle service and maintenance needs. Authorized dealers can access the new product line through the company’s online ordering platform.

Yuasa Battery names new vice president of sales and marketing

Yuasa Battery has appointed Thomas Charno as vice president of sales and marketing, underscoring its ongoing focus on growth across dealers, distributors and OEM partners.

Charno succeeds Kazuhi Yoshioka, who has led the company’s sales and marketing efforts since 2021. Yoshioka will return to Japan to take on a new role with parent company GS Yuasa, where he will continue supporting global operations.

Leadership transition

During his tenure, Yoshioka helped strengthen distributor relationships, navigate market challenges and position the company for long-term growth.

“On behalf of the entire Yuasa team, we want to thank Kazuhi for his leadership and the strong foundation he has built. We are excited to build on that momentum as Tom steps into this role,” says Ryo Okubo, president and CEO.

Yoshioka expressed confidence in the transition, noting Charno’s ability to further develop the sales organization and leverage Yuasa’s global strengths.

Dealer and distributor focus

For dealers, the leadership change signals continued emphasis on strengthening distribution channels and improving the company’s go-to-market strategy.

Charno brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and commercial strategy within engineered manufacturing sectors. His background includes building customer-focused programs, developing key account relationships, and leading high-performing sales teams.

“As an industry outsider, he offers a fresh perspective that can help drive innovation and customer value,” the company said in a statement.

Growth strategy ahead

In his new role, Charno will oversee sales and marketing strategy, lead growth initiatives and work closely with OEM and distributor partners. He will also help align product development with market demand while leveraging Yuasa’s U.S. manufacturing footprint.

“I’m honored to join Yuasa at such an important time,” Charno says. “I look forward to working with our distributors, OEM partners and internal teams to build on that foundation and continue delivering value to the market.”
