Snow Goer announces 2026 Snowmobile of the Year

Powersports Business sister publication Snow Goer has announced its prestigious Snowmobile of the Year award for 2026. This year, the honor goes to BRP’s 2026 Ski-Doo Summit X model with Expert Package.

Each year, Snow Goer awards its Snowmobile of the Year to the snowmobile that excels in the publication’s core evaluation pillars: innovation, ride quality, performance, and market impact. The 2025 winner was the Polaris 650 Indy VR1.

“The Summit X with Expert Package is more stable, better at holding its line, even when crossing other riders’ trenches, and less demanding of constant rider input,” says Snow Goer in its announcement. “It results in easier, less-fatiguing rides. For the truly hardcore mountain riders, it simply means they can push limits even further.”

Engineered for the most demanding mountain riders, the 2026 Summit X with Expert Package features the REV Gen5 platform combined with the Rotax 850 E-TEC engines, with or without turbocharging. It features a 32-inch-wide front suspension and ski-stance, revised geometry, and a Twin Link steering system. All of this works in conjunction to allow easier deep snow carving, tighten steering feel, limit bump steer, and let the skis turn further into the snow for stronger counter steering, enabling riders to stay focused on the terrain.

“This recognition by Snow Goer validates our relentless focus on the rider experience,” says Pascal Vincent, global product strategy director of snowmobiles at BRP. “The Summit X with Expert Package is not just a snowmobile — it’s a tool for passionate mountain riders to explore new playgrounds and elevate their riding to the next level.”

With decades of mountain heritage, including the first mountain specific Summit introduced in 1994, Ski-Doo says it will continue to lead the industry through innovation that empowers riders and takes the industry further. Visit ski-doo.brp.com to for more about the 2026 models.

Sweepstakes set up to raise funds for avalanche safety

To raise money for avalanche awareness and education initiatives around North America, the Avalanche Alliance has announced a massive sweepstakes capped by two grand prize riding trips with snowmobile legends Carl Kuster and Matt Entz, a Marlon sled deck, and gear packages from Klim and BCA.

“Avalanche centers are a key link in the connection between the snowmobiling community and the goal of reducing the impact of avalanches and avalanche accidents,” says Jeff Hambelton, AIARE motorized program manager and NWAC staff member. “With these sweepstakes, we can support avalanche centers’ efforts to build better tools for the motorized community.”

Snowmobile events return to 2026 X Games in Aspen

After a five-year hiatus, snowmobile competition will be returning to the X Games 2026, held Jan. 23-25 in Aspen, Colorado.

Competitive snowmobiling will feature two different disciplines, the X Games Snowmobile Speed and Style event and the Freestyle event. Speed and Style were last held in Aspen in 2018, with Brett Turcotte winning gold. The freestyle event was last held in 2021.

“I am so blessed to hear that X Games will be bringing back snowmobiles for 2026,” says Turcotte. “I have been waiting for this opportunity and I am more motivated than ever for the chance at another gold medal moment.”

The winter version of the X Games first included snowmobiles in 1998. Various events have been added and subtracted over the years — including Hillcross, Freestyle, Best Trick, Speed and Style, Snowbikes, Long Jump and others.

X Games Aspen 2026 will be free and open to the public during the day. Tickets will be required to access the event in the evenings and will include a variety of skiing, snowboarding and snowmobile competitions, X Fest, and live music. Early bird prices for general admission tickets will be available in the coming weeks. Visit xgames.com for more information.

Fowler Parts buys snowmobile aftermarket company

Fowler Parts Service (FPS), a powersports and lawn parts distributor, announced Sept. 23 the acquisition of Fett Brothers Performance, a 30-year-old snowmobile performance parts and accessories company.

Founded by brothers Dale and Dennis Fett, Fett Brothers Performance has built a reputation for its high-quality snowmobile performance products and trusted expertise. With this acquisition, FPS says it will continue the Fett Brothers’ core business, as well as expand the product line to include more snowmobile parts and accessories.

“Once we get everything in place, we’ll start to expand the product line to include parts for the latest generation of clutches,” says Matt Pfankuch, owner of FPS. “This acquisition strengthens [FPS’] ability to add value to all our dealers’ lines, ensuring they can offer even more proven performance products to their customers.”

With the acquisition, Dale Fett will still run his Composit track business in the U.S., he says, and do shocks service and clutch balancing under the new “2 Below Trading Company” name. Customers can call or text the new business at (218) 850-0180.  A Facebook page will launch soon, with a website planned in the future.

“Thanks to all our past customers for your support over the past 30 years,” says Dale Fett. “It has been a great ride.”
