Glaciers leave rocks , sand , boulders and gravel called drift , but since the last glaciers narrowly missed this part of Minnesota during the Quarternary Period – long before the first slide rail suspension was invented – geologists often call it the Driftless Area .
I ’ ve seen Ryan Dungey , Chad Reed and Tucker Hibbert race dirt bikes at the famous Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville , and now after riding the Zumbrowatha trails last winter , I added it to my list of “ You ’ ve got to go there !” snowmobile destinations . The terrain is diverse , views are magnificent and the trails are fun , well-marked and aplenty with about 300 miles of trails in Wabasha County alone , and clubs maintain tracks in neighboring counties , too .
