Buyer’ s Guide for Touring Accessories
When you’ re packing and preparing for a long distance snowmobile adventure, there are a few things you want to make sure you don’ t leave home without. Extra layers, your toiletries, and a change of clothes are just a few of the basics. But what about some accessories that might make your trip more comfortable, safer, and all around more enjoyable? Here’ s a handful of our favorite touring accessories.
1. CARDO PACKTALK EDGE HEADSET
The PackTalk features 2nd-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication and support for up to 15 riders. Headsets can be connected via Bluetooth 5.2, and thanks to USB-C fast charging you can get two hours of talk time from just a 20-minute charge. The PackTalk features an IP67 waterproof and dust-resistant rating and is designed to handle whatever Mother Nature throws at you.
2. MOUNTAIN LAB BACKCOUNTRY TOOL KIT
This is the kind of kit you hope stays packed but are glad to have when a sled needs attention miles from your truck. It brings common backcountry repair tools together in a compact, lightweight, water-resistant case that fits neatly in your gearbag without feeling like you packed the whole garage.
3. POWERMADD GAUNTLET X2
Easily attach the PowerMadd Gauntlet to any handguard to give yourself some added warmth and protection from the elements. The upgraded attachment mechanism fastens quickly and adjusts simply, and it uses the existing handguard for support. Additionally, the improved“ stay open” design allows riders to see controls.
4. MOUNTAIN LAB EXHALE EMERGENCY BIVY BREATHABLE SLEEPING BAG
This lightweight, packable emergency bivy is waterproof, windproof, and unlike most other emergency blankets and bivvies is also breathable, which is a huge benefit for anyone who needs to hunker down and stay warm in cold climates. Constructed of a four-ply material developed by NASA to breathe effectively yet still reflect 70-90 % of a person’ s body heat, the advanced material is much stronger than a typical lightweight emergency bivy or blanket.
5. BLIZZARD BUSTER SELECTABLE HELMET SAFETY LIGHT
With up to 200 lumens of light, the Blizzard Buster makes you more visible to other riders and provides an increased level of safety for all snowmobilers, especially families and groups. With its unique design, the built-in splitter connects the DC power from your snowmobile to both your heated shield and the Blizzard Buster. Additionally, the efficient LEDs draw less than 0.5 watts and do not interfere with the functionality of a heated shield.
6. GPS TRAIL MASTERS WATERPROOF GPS CASE WITH SHADE VISOR
Bright sunshine can often“ wash-out” GPS and phone screens on a snowmobile rendering them difficult to read. This waterproof case features a touch-through front panel and bottom entry for GPS cables so you can also charge your GPS while riding and also keep the sun or glare off your screen.
7. CHOKO MODULAR 3-PART SNOWMOBILE SADDLEBAG
Made from high denier cordura backed with a PVC coating, the Choko Modular Saddlebag system is both durable and equipped with a quick-release mounting system. Designed for easy installation, this modular saddlebag system will fit most snowmobiles and provides riders with ample storage to carry all their gear.
