KTM reveals 2025 electric Freeride E

Ten years after KTM first introduced the electric Freeride concept , the completely refreshed 2025 Freeride E represents the company ’ s next step in its approach to the practicality , and vast potential of dual-sport e-mobility .
The 2025 KTM Freeride E is a 99 percent new product featuring an in-house-developed drivetrain , expanded battery potential , and high-class components wrapped with unforgettable style and design that always distinguishes orange motorcycles from the crowd .
The KTM Freeride E addresses some of the environmental issues with off-roading , like low emissions and near-silent noise ( which means it can be ridden almost anywhere ), and the benefits of low maintenance . The Freeride E is also street legal .
The bike provides the thrill of instant torque and power , and a set-up with both brakes mounted on the handlebars will allow experienced users to work more on their technique and positioning while being the easiest possible introduction to riding for newcomers .
In 2014 , KTM unveiled the KTM Freeride E in Enduro form . A decade later , technology has advanced , hardware is better and lighter ,
and software has become cleverer . The latest expression of the KTM Freeride E shows that KTM believes in the power and possibilities of battery power . The 2025 KTM Freeride E is a natural progression from the superb roster of new KTM SX-E 2 and KTM SX-E 5 e-minis , which forms the ideal learning stage for future riders .
NEW TO THE 2025 FREERIDE E KTM ’ s R & D department has been busy bringing the most exciting interpretation of electric drivetrain technology to the KTM Freeride E platform . Boasting 11 kW of nominal output , 18.5 kW peak power , more than 37 Nm of torque , and a top speed of 59 mph , the engine is a much quieter , cooler unit that is waterproof and dustproof .
Three ride modes ( ECO , Normal , and Sport ) and three energy recuperation settings ( Off , Mid , and High ) can be synced to ensure flexibility with the range and power package of the KTM Freeride E . Traction control can also be pegged to a certain level to limit or increase wheelspin . More safety features come from the ‘ rollover sensor ’ that cuts the power in the event of a crash . KTM prioritized nimble and light handling and developed a new chassis .
The geometry has been altered , and the wheelbase widened for more stability and comfort . The chassis can remain featherweight and slim by hinging the chrome-molybdenum steel frame on the load-bearing engine and battery architecture . The final ride-ready weight is less than 251 pounds , and the aluminum and glass-fiber reinforced nylon subframe helps in this respect .
The KTM Freeride E ’ s seat height is 35.6 inches . The 63.9−pound MX50 Lithium-Ion battery has been tested and proven in extreme

conditions . It is interchangeable , allowing the use of a second pack while the charging process takes place or to increase travel use . The capacity is 5 kWh , an improvement of 1 kWh compared to the previous KTM Freeride E , and 20 percent more riding time or distance . Battery life can withstand over 1,000 charge cycles before dipping to 80 percent effectiveness . Typical Enduro riding time is estimated to be between two and three hours . The new 2025 KTM Freeride E will roll off the production line in January 2025 .

In a letter to its dealers , Yamaha announced it will pull out of the e-bike business in the U . S . by the end of the year , according to reports .
“ As you know , the combination of a post- Covid oversupply within the entire bicycle industry , coupled with a significant softening of the market , has resulted in a particularly challenging business environment where it is extremely difficult to achieve a sustainable business model ,” Yamaha says in the letter , which has been deleted from some social media posts .
The company says it is pulling out of the U . S . e-bike segment due to market conditions and the leftover inventory glut caused by Covid . Yamaha will stop wholesaling units at the end of 2024 .
Yamaha built the first electric power-assist bicycle motor in 1993 . However , it didn ’ t enter the U . S . e-bike segment until 2018 with a range of mountain and fitness / lifestyle e-bikes .
Yamaha told its dealers that it will continue its “ fan promotion ” program that offers customers up to 60 % off a new Yamaha e-bike . The program will be extended until June 30 , 2025 , according to reports , and Yamaha will also continue parts , service , and customer support throughout its five-year warranty period in the U . S .
Yamaha ’ s e-bikes were considered a premium model range that featured high-end components and motors built by the Japanese company in-house . There is speculation that Yamaha could continue to supply motors for other brands that supply the U . S . e-bike segment , but that is unconfirmed .
During the pandemic , the e-bike industry saw a huge spike in demand , and Yamaha and others raced to fix supply chains and build the models ordered through dealers . But , as with many other brands , the supply was too much
once the world started returning to normal and demand softened . Since then , many brands
have filed for bankruptcy protection , including Fuell , Sondors , Juiced Bikes , and others .

Royal Enfield reveals Flying Flea brand at EICMA

Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle brand in operation . At EICMA 2024 , it burst into the electric motorcycle segment with the launch of a new dedicated brand : Flying Flea .
The name originates from the motorcycle produced by Royal Enfield in the 1940s . Designed to be parachuted into war zones , the Flying Flea was known for its lightness and agility , which is revived in the new brand .
The first model FF-C6 features a retrofuturistic design . Inspired by the original model , it has a Girder fork , reminiscent of motorcycles from the 1920s and 1930s .
The frame is made from forged aluminum , which is lightweight and durable , while the magnesium battery housing reduces weight and improves cooling . A scrambler-style variant named “ S6 ” allows for independent adjustments to acceleration , braking , and regeneration settings . The system is updated Over The Air , and the bike starts up with a smartphone .
