59 WINTER 2023 VOL . 04 / ISSUE 2 SNOWGOER . COM
60 was the most fun trail I have ridden in a while .
At 26 miles long , with tight turns that almost seemed banked in some sections , I would classify this as the Mulholland of Vermont . It ’ s mind-boggling thinking how the club grooms these switchbacks and hills . The views were incredible , and the riding was pure bliss . If it ’ s open , I highly recommend riding it : The challenge is catching it open . It needs a good , packed base and the water dams to freeze before they can even think of grooming it . If the weather warms too much it closes , so it truly is a “ here-today , gone-tomorrow ” type of trail .
If snow conditions allow , the legal riding season in Vermont is December 16 to April 15 . Riders are required to have a Trail Maintenance Assessment ( TMA ).
Wrapping It Up
As we got closer to our tow vehicles , the sun set and the trails were illuminated by the sleds ’ headlight – making it back to Chimney Hill before the 9 p . m . curfew wouldn ’ t be a problem .
In the end , the journey reminded us of the classic Ferris Bueller yet again , offering these sage words of advice : “ Life moves pretty fast . If you don ’ t stop and look around once in a while , you could miss it .”
