Neither is a wrong answer . With option 1 , riders drive their sleds onto the ferry and are shuttled across St . Mary ’ s River and dropped on the other side . On Drummond , riders can choose from three distinct looped trails , each scenic and remote feeling with frequent views of yet another of the Great Lakes – Lake Huron . Don ’ t lose track of the time , however – the last ferry crosses back to the mainland at 9:30 p . m ., and it waits for nobody .
Those choosing to head north to the Sault get an interesting mix of trails , from wooded paths to wide groomed rail trails and forest roads . There are two things you must check out when you reach the destination . The first is the famous Soo locks , an
engineering marvel where you can watch as huge freighters are raised or lowered 21 feet as they transition from one Great Lake to another . Then , cut through town and go see the Soo I-500 race track , where the first weekend of February each year a new champion is crowned in a 500-lap race around the high-speed , 1-mile oval track .
