He is the first coach in college football history to win 100 games in his first 10 years ( 1990-1999 ), while at University of Florida . Spurrier is the winningest coach in school history at Florida and at another Power 5 university , South Carolina .

Spurrier was inducted into the National College Football Hall of Fame as a player ( 1986 ), and as a coach ( 2017 ), and into the National High School Hall of Fame ( 2016 ). He has been married to Jerri Starr , his college girlfriend , for over 50 years . They have four children and 14 grandchildren .
