Making its debut in 2019 as a way to recognize the best off-premise stores in the country , the Top 100 Retailers Awards is back again with some pretty amazing winners . From marketing tactics and rewards programs to in-store tastings and new products , each store stands out in their own unique way .
Each Top 100 entry is reviewed by a panel of judges and compared across the top retailers in the country . Those chosen must demonstrate innovation , excellent customer service and superior beverage alcohol industry knowledge . Managing a retail location ( or chain of stores ) while satisfying customers and turning a profit is difficult , especially in today ’ s highly regulated industry . That ’ s why Beverage Dynamics chooses the best of the best : retailers who take pride in their business , care about their customers and employees and stay involved in their community and the industry at large .
Now more than ever , these retailers must manage a changing industry and thrive in uncertainty in order to remain competitive . We received an overwhelming number of entries this year , as stores began to gather momentum out of a turbulent period of both growth and challenges . With the impacts of the pandemic still dictating consumer preferences , many retailers are continuing to adapt to keep their customers happy and coming back .
Those who were most successful never stopped thinking of ways to improve their stores and keep shoppers engaged . Each of these retailers had a chance to showcase their strategies and innovations . One-hundred of them had stand-out practices that elevated their business to a level of success worthy of recognition .
Many of the winners were recognized at the Top 100 Banquet during our 2024 Beverage Alcohol Retailers Conference , which took place this June at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg in Chicago , IL . Nominations for our 2025 Top 100 Awards will open in the fall of this year .

Why Bagley Liquor is a Top 100 Retailer
Nestled into Bagley , MN , with a population of only 1,300 people , Bagley Liquor has managed to stand out in the small town . It also helps that they moved to a new area in 2014 . Chosen for its location on US Hwy 2 , the fresh space brings in a great deal more customers .
“ We went from eight parking spaces to over 30 parking spaces , along with two larger spots for pickups , trailers , campers and boat trailers ,” says liquor operations manager Christopher Arnold . “ We also have a large LED display board on the front side of our lot , which gets roughly 3,000 to 5,000 views a day .”
Arnold notes that one of the more unique attributes of the new location is its multipurpose room . “ It can be easily turned into our tasting room / classroom for educating our customers and staff ,” he says .
