TIME OF THE YEAR

AS WINTER WINDS BLOW AWAY the last of fall ’ s leaves , so too do political signs withdraw from our lawns after the polls close . Mercifully , the attack ads that scorched our airways retreat as well . Another Election Day is in the books . We move on . We must .
Regardless of political position , time now drives us forward into shorter , colder days . We all experience winter together : a chill that arrives suddenly and despite the sun , lingering long after the year has changed . Winter with its initial silver frost , riming the roadways , before the weather bursts later into open snowfall . Blizzards that can cover a quarter of the country at once . Roads icedover , schools canceled , work slowed , gloves and jackets put on and snowblowers started up , chugging gas while clearing driveways in a steady spew . A reminder that so much still unites us , despite how much we ’ re supposed to be driven apart .
We all reflect this time of year — or should . What has happened to you and your business since the last time we changed the calendar ? What have you learned ? What have you lost and gained ? This time in 2021 , my wife was very pregnant . Now we have a 10-monthold daughter , Josephine or Jo Jo , who has two and a half teeth , and has been through more sleep regressions than I care to count . She ’ s also had a hip brace , a helmet , caught Covid , quit sleeping for three months — and is today perfectly healthy , sleeping well , and crawling around our living room like doing laps on a track . For us , Jo Jo ’ s exhausted , overjoyed parents , it ’ s been a year that feels like several .
But it has been a year . Time is constant , regardless of fast or slow it may seem , or how you spend the hours that span the days . The Wyoming Liquor Division has spent a great deal of time modernizing with the goal of future growth . See how by turning to page 11 for our excellent profile by Melissa Sherwin .
As the perceptive investments by the Wyoming Liquor Division prove , the hours now matter a lot for the future . So consider how you spent your hours in 2022 , and what you will do with them in the twelve months ahead . How much will 2023 mirror the year that came before it ? There is always time for change , growth , evolution and new experiences . And that is another constant . Time is what we make of it .
