RECOGNIZING THE BENEFITS OF CONTROL
FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR , StateWays is proud to honor the winners of the Control State Best Practices Awards .
These agencies have created innovative programs to upgrade their warehouses , improve retail stores , better communicate with policy makers and educate the public . They serve as examples for the wider industry .
This year ’ s overall winner , the New Hampshire Liquor Commission , excelled in multiple categories – including innovations in warehousing , retail , enforcement and trade education . The NHLC joins previous overall winners , the Virginia ABC and Pennsylvania LCB .
For the first time , the Best Practices Awards will also be presented in person , at the NABCA Administrators Conference in October .
HIGHLIGHTING RESPONSIBILITY This issue includes the Drink Responsibly supplement , which tells the story of control state agencies and industry members ’ support of responsible consumption campaigns . Since the end of Prohibition , many control states have had a dual mandate of selling alcohol and preventing its misuse .
There are dozens of examples of control states reaching out to students , organizing college events , training licensees and supporting community organizations . These agencies are not just generating revenue for taxpayers , they ’ re educating and protecting the public as well .
