JOHN MASCARO ’ S PHOTO QUIZ
ANSWER
From page 17
This athletic field is owned and run by a turf farm and sports field maintenance company . The field hosts multiple games by 12U and 11U baseball teams , practices and scrimmages for 14U teams , as well as special activities such as three to four Boy Scott Jamborees per year , a World Long Drive event and a skydiving club throughout the year . A Boy Scout Jamboree , which had approximately 100 people in attendance , resulted in these two deep indentations on the field . The cause of the indentations was a UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter the Colorado Air National Guard landed on the baseball field . The Boy Scouts and the National Guard had the event approved by the field ’ s owners a couple of weeks in advance ; and no special preparations were needed other than keeping everyone off the field during the landing . The front two tires seemed to leave the largest indentations whereas the smaller rear wheel didn ’ t really sink in . After the event , the crew filled the indentations with sand and resodded them . When I inquired if there was anything different they would do next time in preparation , they replied “ invite more spectators .”
