What has been awesome is seeing our students pass the torch . Our seniors put in so much time , effort and energy , and the juniors see it and know they have to pick it up from there . They ’ re waiting for their turn .
A lot of people see me as the Brentsville Turf guy , and people don ’ t quite understand that my number one job is as a teacher . I like to say that we have the largest classroom in the world when it comes to our athletic facilities , which is a challenge of its own .
If they make a mistake with an aerator and we are in the middle of a game week , or if we have someone who painted and made a lake of paint , it ’ s getting them to understand the right way of doing things and the safest way of doing it . The biggest thing we focus on is safety , and it all sort of just kind of falls into place from there . I ’ m the luckiest guy in the world when it comes to my students because they ’ re incredible .
