JOHN MASCARO ’ S PHOTO QUIZ
ANSWER
From page 17
The cause of the brown areas with green borders on this highly used city park ’ s turf was a two-day fall concert . The very brown line down the center was covered with fl ooring to protect the 419 bermudagrass , as were most areas of the park for the event . This brown area , as well as the other browner areas , had fl ooring covering the turf for more than a week in the heat of fall . To further compound things , the brown line down the center was also used as a road for a forklift that was used to install and disassemble the stage and the mixing tower . The green areas on either side of the center aisle had a slightly elevated walkway , which was raised over the turf , mostly protecting it . After a little time and airfl ow , the area greened back up without too many additional inputs .
