ANSWER
From page 17
This unique stadium field in the Phoenix area is home to the Arizona Cardinals , and also hosts major sporting events such as the Fiesta Bowl , the Super Bowl and the NCAA Final Four , as well as various expos , concerts and events like Monster Jam . The entire 94,000-square-foot natural grass playing field sits in a tray that can move on rails the 740 feet between the interior and exterior of the stadium . The turf in this photo is worn out in patches due to cheerleader damage . The sports turf manager reports that the wear begins in small circles , and as the grass wears , the cheerleaders keep moving slightly forward . By the end of the season , the bermudagrass base is eventually worn away , leaving these large , irregular-shaped patches . The bermudagrass field is overseeded with ryegrass during the season , and this wear is not apparent to the television cameras because of the ryegrass growth . During the season , it is only apparent to the sports turf manager , who must diligently apply additional seed to these areas . The wear is apparent to everyone else the following spring when the ryegrass transitions out .
