We are in the final stretch run of summer . Students are heading back to school , practices for fall sports are ramping up , and everyone is preparing for the months ahead .

August is a time of preparation on the magazine and content creation side of things as well . This is the time of year that we plan out our editorial content for the coming year . But those discussions extend well beyond the editorial calendar for the magazine . They involve planning for our digital properties , enhanced content and podcast ; as well as self-reflection of what we have been doing well , and areas we can improve .

We don ’ t partake this annual journey alone . We garner feedback from the SFMA Editorial Committee and other trusted advisors ; we review past content and examine the key issues and trends in the industry ; we seek out industry data and analytics ; and we look ahead at upcoming events that will impact the sports field management profession .

It is also the time of year that I reach out to you , dear reader , for feedback and contributions . SportsField Management magazine relies on industry experts and practitioners , academics , SFMA members and nonmembers alike , for insight into the industry .

That can be as simple as sending us story ideas , questions for our Q & A authors , photo submissions , chapter or regional news , information about upcoming special events on your field ,
