The 20th Anniversary Edition’ s metallic Circuit Yellow paint is particularly sharp, and the anniversary graphics add character without going overboard. ing on the horsepower number misses the significance of this engine. Rotax went considerably deeper than simply turning up the wick.
The 600RR uses additional booster injectors, revised cylinder porting, a new throttle-body design, and a higher maximum engine speed of 8,250 rpm. The result is a claimed 20 % improvement in throttle response, along with stronger acceleration and a more aggressive power delivery. The engine also gets a revised intake and exhaust system that gives it a distinctive sound while helping it breathe more freely.
The 600RR introduces Smart ECO mode, which allows riders to prioritize efficiency when maximum performance isn’ t necessary. Ski-Doo says the mode can reduce fuel consumption by approximately 5 %. More significantly, the engine is designed to use about 20 % less oil than its predecessor.
Then there is Silent-Stop. When the rider comes to a complete stop with the brake applied, the engine can shut itself off automatically and restart when the brake is released. It’ s a concept familiar to drivers of modern automobiles, but Ski-Doo says this is the first application of the technology on a snowmobile.
It is easy to dismiss something like Silent-Stop as a novelty.
