⊳ You would never know that it barely snowed in the Upper Midwest last winter , because the crowd at Hay Days was monstrous . You ’ ve got to love the optimistic and enthusiastic nature of snowmobilers !
On The Scene At Hay Days
Depending on where you were at any moment , the 57th annual Hay Days Grass Drag & Swap Meet was cool , but also hot . It was very crowded , yet intimate . It was lightning fast , but also high flying . It was extremely muddy , yet eminently dusty . It was zany , and quite serious . It featured exotic innovations , and also absolute junk . It was a reunion with old friends , and a place to meet new people .
When tallied up , Hay Days was downright awesome ! Here are some images from snowmobiling ’ s biggest off-season event , held September 7-8 near North Branch , Minnesota .
▲ If you look carefully , you can see a helmet poking out of the flying mud in the lane nearest to the fence . The nine-event Southern Cross Bounty Series made Hay Days its only trip north of the Mason-Dixon line .
Although its announced plans to display many notable Yamaha sleds over the years fizzled , the brand did unveil this radically cool crate holding the last Yamaha SRX snowmobile – numbered 998 . It will be auctioned off – crate and all – this winter , with all proceeds going back to the snowmobile community . ⊲
