support the show in the least expensive way that they can , is what it seems .

If this were truly a dealer show , you couldn ’ t afford to miss it . AIMExpo and other events ( uh-hum , Accelerate ) bill themselves as the must-attend event for the industry . Still , after more than ten years of trying to lure dealers to an independent show , it has never attracted the large dealer numbers that Dealer Expo used to have in its prime . Yes , the industry has changed and contracted since then . Thousands of dealers shut down during the Great Recession , and some expect a few hundred dealers to shut down this year due to the current economic climate . Getting dealers to attend events has always been challenging , especially when they are not tied specifically to a franchised brand .

We ’ ll have to wait and see how things play out in Anaheim next year , but traditionally , Southern California dealers don ’ t go to industry shows . We ’ ve seen this play out in industry trade events in the past . So will it change next year ? We are certainly rooting for it to be a great event for the industry , but Elvis has left the building . Thank you , thank you very much .
