ScorpionEXO switches U.S. distribution from WPS to O’Neal

ScorpionEXO, together with its parent company KIDO Sports, today announced a planned transition in its U.S. distribution strategy, marking the next phase of the brand’s growth in North America. As part of this transition, distribution will move from Western Power Sports (WPS) to O’Neal.

Since its founding in 2003, ScorpionEXO has built a reputation for technical innovation, rider-focused design, and performance-driven products. Over the past several years, the brand has significantly expanded its presence in the U.S. market through its partnership with WPS.

“Our partnership with WPS has been an important part of ScorpionEXO’s growth in the U.S.,” says Ji Young Park, CEO of KIDO Sports. “We value the collaboration we’ve built and appreciate the support over the years.”

WPS has played a big role in helping build the Scorpion brand in the U.S., according to Chris Martinez, director of business development for ScorpionEXO.

“We’ve worked closely together over the years, and there’s a lot of respect for their team and what we’ve accomplished together,” says Martinez. “We’re excited about what’s ahead with O’Neal and looking forward to reaching more riders together.”

That foundation, built dealer by dealer and product by product, positions ScorpionEXO well as it enters this next chapter with O’Neal.

“Western Power Sports is extremely grateful for the partnership we’ve shared with ScorpionEXO,” adds Anthony Armsby, VP of rider gear at WPS. “We’re proud of what we accomplished together and the role WPS played in helping position the brand for its next chapter. This transition allows both organizations to move forward in a positive direction, and we will continue to support and champion ScorpionEXO’s next steps with O’Neal.”

WPS will continue to support dealers and fulfill product needs through 2026 and into the 2027 spring season, ensuring a smooth and stable transition for the market.

“We’re proud to bring ScorpionEXO into the O’Neal network,” says Frank Kashare, president of O’Neal. “We’ve taken our time finding the right premium street helmet brand for our dealers. ScorpionEXO stood out for its unparalleled commitment to quality, consistency, and its dedication to rider safety and the consumer experience.”

Beginning in fall 2026, O’Neal will take on U.S. distribution of ScorpionEXO products, with a full rollout in 2027 supporting the whole product range. The partnership will include the full line of ScorpionEXO helmets, apparel, and EXOCOM communication systems, according to the press announcement.

Motorcycle helmet maker Schuberth adds to its North American rep force

Schuberth GmbH, a motorcycle helmet manufacturer based in Germany, has expanded its North American rep force by adding sales agencies Register One Sales and The Xplor Group.   Long established in the motorsports industry, Register One’s Doug Register and Brett Gaylord will cover dealer relations and sales in Florida and Puerto Rico. Brandon Olsen of The Xplor Group will focus on growing Schuberth’s dealer base in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska.

Schuberth says the additions are part of a comprehensive plan to grow the company’s North American presence. In April, Schuberth named motorcycle industry veteran Chris Bogue as president, who then quickly established a sales force now covering the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico.

In addition, Schuberth named Hayter Industries as its public relations agency of record to manage communications around its corporate and product initiatives. Company founder Ryan Hayter has more than 25 years of experience working with global brands in the motorsports and adventure lifestyle markets.

GoPro explores possible sale, merger as financial struggles continue

GoPro is officially exploring strategic alternatives, including a possible sale or merger, as the iconic action camera maker looks to reverse ongoing revenue declines and capitalize on growing interest from outside investors in its technology.

The company announced this week that its board of directors has authorized a formal strategic review process following what it described as several “unsolicited inbound strategic inquiries” from parties in the defense, consumer and financial sectors.

As part of that effort, GoPro has retained investment bank Houlihan Lokey as its financial advisor. Law firm Fenwick & West is serving as legal counsel.

“We believe GoPro has substantial unrecognized value that can be realized via a sale of the company or other strategic event,” founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman said in a statement. “Given inbound interest since our announcement, it seems others feel similarly.”

The announcement follows GoPro’s May 11 disclosure that it was evaluating strategic options after receiving outside interest shortly after it expanded its focus into the defense and aerospace markets. Earlier this spring, the company engaged consulting firm Oliver Wyman to pursue opportunities for GoPro’s technology in those sectors.

Mounting financial pressure

For the first quarter ended March 31, the company reported revenue of $99 million, down 26% from $134 million during the same period last year. Retail channel revenue fell 35% year-over-year to $61 million, while unit sell-through declined 29% to 313,000 cameras.

The company also posted a wider adjusted loss of 35 cents per share compared to a 12-cent loss a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was negative $50 million, versus negative $16 million in the prior-year quarter.

Shares of GoPro surged more than 27% in after-hours trading following the initial strategic review announcement. The company’s market capitalization stood at roughly $224 million prior to the spike.

GoPro has not established a timetable for completing the review process and said there is no guarantee a transaction will occur.

“In authorizing this process, the board plans to work with independent financial and legal advisors,” the company says. “The board and management team remain fully committed to acting in the best interests of the company and its stakeholders throughout this evaluation.”

The company has also been restructuring operations in response to declining sales. Last month, GoPro announced plans to reduce its global workforce by approximately 23% by the end of 2026. Based on its reported headcount of 631 employees at the close of Q1, the move could impact roughly 145 workers.

GoPro’s uncertainty comes as the brand remains deeply embedded in motorcycle, off-road and action sports culture through helmet-mounted cameras, creator partnerships and event sponsorships. Any acquisition or merger could potentially reshape how the brand approaches powersports marketing, OEM relationships and future product development.
