A Return Flight
The next morning was frigid , and one of our sleds fell victim to the cold . Fortunately I had experience with the same issue while riding in Ontario , Canada . The solution was to pull the 40 amp fuse and take it inside the hotel to warm for a while .
We took this opportunity to plan our route back to our starting camp in Vermont , choosing to take a southern route and run parallel to our route from the day prior .
The new day and fresh sunshine allowed us to absorb more of the Maine scenery that we missed in the dark the evening before . Compared to what we experienced in Vermont and New Hampshire , the sightlines here seemed to open up a bit more , with wide , smooth trails featuring sweeping turns that a Midwestern rider might compare to Michigan ’ s Upper Peninsula , except with more elevation changes .
There are many summits with overlooks – be sure to stop and take in the view . My favorite was shortly after we crossed back into New Hampshire off of Trail 20 . From this high point , we enjoyed a wonderful , 360-degree
The green tubes that run parallel to the trail for miles and occasionally cross overhead are for harvesting maple syrup .
With a passport – and of course the proper trail permit – you can travel by snowmobile directly into Quebec .
