On the final day we changed our home base and rode with a different welcoming club out of a different location . So we packed up and moved about 25 miles to the west to the Fortune Bay Resort and Casino in Tower , from which we would ride with the Vermillion Penguins . Ending the week in the casino resort with a buffet and a pinch of gambling sounded like a good idea to us , after a day ’ s worth of riding through the area of course .
Meeting club president Mike Indihar , social coordinator Don Brown and members Roth Indihar , Peter McGillivray and Tom Mortalinni in the parking lot at 9 a . m ., we unloaded the truck and sleds in 15 minutes flat while introducing ourselves . After all , we came to ride , not swap recipes !
From Fortune Bay we took a local Penguins grant-in-aid trail to the Arrowhead State Trail , where we made a five-minute stop to take a peak at the club ’ s new building , which is used to store and maintain equipment – and eventually will serve as a trailhead and clubhouse .
