Another nice feature was the map imposed onto the wooden table by the door , plus a separate table on which we could lay out and dry any gear . We were attentively served a nice meal of burgers , soups and fried chicken – the leftovers of which we were able to neatly package into the rear storage compartment of the Yamaha .
On our way back to Ely we took the Hidden Bay trail off the Stony Spur trail , which gave us direct access to Birch Lake , and then White Iron Lake . Although distant areas remained a slushy safety concern , with enough throttle and momentum it was clearly safe enough to distance yourself from the group and play . With solid ice conditions and powdery snow instead of slush , the open areas would be a blank canvass to paint on most winter days , but we still had fun !
We ended that night in the lodge , as members of the group enjoyed drinks , food and pull tabs and made plans to meet again in the lobby the same time the next morning . After the local members of our group left , my partner and I digressed into purchasing additional pull
