Wondrous Woodford
The Woodford Snobusters have been around since the mid-1980s . It made sense having a snowmobile club here , as elevation allows the area to receive snow while other areas are getting rain . The city of Woodford sits at 2,165 feet in altitude – 600 feet higher than neighboring Wilmington , and that additional bump in altitude can definitely make a difference in snowfall .
This isn ’ t a secret to regional riders , however , so snowmobiling Woodford does tend to bring a crowd to the area . Heavy volume riding has historically generated nicknames like “ bumpford ” or “ whoopford ,” but local grooming continues to improve each season .
