WISCONSIN Cable Area
|
The Cable Area is truly a Northwoods snowmobiling paradise . Its “ Up North ” winters are made for outdoor recreation .
In the Cable Area alone , there are more than 150 miles of impeccably groomed trails , connecting to an additional 500 miles of groomed trails county wide , and more than 1,000 miles of ungroomed forest roads . With frequent opportunities to stop at scenic vistas paired with great lodging , dining and socializing establishments , this is a trip you need to make .
Most snowmobilers in the Midwest are aware of the fantastic winter playground found near the Cable Area of Southern Bayfield County . The spectacular vistas and breathtaking scenery will capture your heart and imagination , making for lifelong memories .
A special treat for riders can be found travelling from Cable on Trail 15 and connecting with Trail 63 . It takes you north through Drummond and Grand View as it heads toward Mason . Along this trail , riders will cross two refurbished railroad trestles , the 585-foot 18 Mile Creek Bridge , and the 325-foot White River Ramblers Snowmobile Bridge , each providing their own stunning views .
Trail 70 traveling east out of Cable brings riders to scenic Lake Namakagon , the 10th largest natural lake in Wisconsin . From there a trek south on Trail 8 provides an excellent opportunity

to view all the natural beauty of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest , as riders travel along the Rock Lake Semi-Primitive Area .
With almost a million acres , this unspoiled national treasure offers the best in Midwest snowmobiling without the crowds of more widely known destinations ! Ask the locals where to go for the best rides and hospitality , and then ask them about the “ Piano Bar ” for a good insider laugh . East of Lake Namakagon along trail 90 you can find “ God ’ s Country .” It ’ s a must-stop photo opportunity for any snowmobile enthusiast .
In this uppermost part of Wisconsin , trails lead in all directions through this serene National Forest region , offering several choices or varied terrain and views , from dense , lush , frosty forests to pristine , snow-covered fields to breathtaking , frozen lake-scapes . The famed stick trails will guide you across the frozen lakes from point to point .
When staying in this area , snowmobiles are the only transportation you will need because practically everything is accessible via the trail system . Excellent lodging with roaring fireplaces , great food and drinks , and exceptional hospitality can be found trailside throughout this area .
