We ’ d had a wonderfully long and snowy winter , but the exposed dirt at stop sign approaches and the warm and dry forecast meant the local snowmobile riding season was rapidly coming to a close in the Upper Midwest . Longer days and mild March weather had the vast majority of Minneapolitans dreaming of spring – only the real nutjobs like me were seeking more winter . It was , after all , the time of year when college students and families alike pack their shorts and sandals , board planes and head south for Spring Break .
