By Keweenaw standards , the conditions we experienced happened to be subpar
– the ground was snow-covered , but it was rock-hard , white-cement conditions that
made cooling our sleds difficult and backcountry exploration a non-option . However ,
we still had an awesome time and rekindled our love affair with this ultimate
snowmobiling destination .
CHASING SNOW After returning from the Rode Reports testing event late that winter , we certainly weren ’ t
ready for our season to end , no matter how balmy it was at home . Beyond the general
desire to ride , however , was our need to ride to wrap up our season ’ s product testing .
We started calling around for snow . Every place we called in northern Minnesota
and Wisconsin basically said , “ Don ’ t bother coming ; we ’ re done for the year .” But Richard
