TRAIL PERMITS :

A Trail Pass costs residents or non-residents who register their snowmobile in Wisconsin $ 30 per year . However , membership in a club affiliated with the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs ( AWSC ) allows folks to buy a trail sticker directly from the AWSC at the discounted rate of just $ 10 . A non-resident whose sled is not registered in Wisconsin will pay $ 50 for a permit .

OK , we know we ’ re technically not supposed to race cars on our snowmobiles , but it ’ s hard not to glance over at and time yourself off the semis running parallel to the trail as the interesting Trail 94 follows the freeway with the same digits .
This wasn ’ t classic ditch running , however , as the fascinating roll of the land often put the trail notably higher or lower than automotive traffic . We passed through gates , over a couple of small bridges and even under the freeway a couple of times before crossing under it for good at Hixton . Then things got really interesting .
Three miles north of Hixton , but still very close to the freeway , the trail suddenly crossed the property of CMJ Raceway – a motocross and hillclimb race track in the summer , and just a part of the trail system in the winter . It seemed unreal that the owners of the track would allow the trail not only on their property but to cross the track at several locations , through the pits and past picnic tables .
