88 was stuck , then a second , and a third . We ’ d get two sleds up through the Aspen trees to a plateau , but then a couple more would be stuck .
The locals gamely returned each time , helped work stuck sleds loose , and then more runs were made . And more getting stuck – including the guides .
Rainsberger and Asta tried different routes and angles , leading us this way and that , but it seemed like somebody was always getting trapped and needed help . The depth and looseness of the snow was just too much to overcome . It got to the point of extreme frustration .
