Located high astride the Continental Divide just 36 miles from Jackson Hole , the charming town of Alpine has everything a snowmobiler could want for a truly remarkable winter getaway .

It all starts with copious snow ! This area can get more than 500 inches in a good winter . When combined with the surrounding scenic and rugged peaks , open bowls and tree-lined hills , that snow provides a lengthy season of highaltitude riding .

Whether you want to venture into the deep backcountry for challenging rides or stick mostly to the trails , there is something for every rider . The Wyoming Range snowmobile trail system can entertain visitors who want to pile on some miles and soak up the fabulous scenery . This system encompasses approximately 350 miles of trails between Alpine and Kemmerer , with regular grooming from mid-December to mid- March . Plus many more miles of trails are available in adjacent parts of Idaho .

One popular ride is from Alpine up through the Greys River area to the Box Y Lodge for lunch and then back to town .

The trails also provide access to excellent backcountry riding . Most riding is done between 6,000 and 10,000 feet and can be about as adventurous as you want . Climb , tree-ride and carve to your heart ’ s content .

Bring your own equipment – just get a modestly priced Wyoming trail permit from a local business – or you get anything you need locally .
