� U . S . BOILER HOSTS LEARNING EVENTS IN NEW ENGLAND
On October 24 , U . S . Boiler Co . hosted a Hops & Heat learning event at Trillium Brewing Company in Canton , Massachusetts . This is the second event of its kind the company has hosted in New England .
Heating contractors attended the event to learn about highefficiency heating equipment , including the Ambient Air-to-Water Heat Pump , Citadel commercial condensing boiler , Alta selfadaptive boiler , and the Ambient electric boiler .
More than 70 contractors attended . Raffle prizes were given away and attendees played a variety of games for an opportunity to win Carhartt tool bags , van wrap packages and a smokeless firepit from Solo Stoves .
“ I attended the event because I have a passion for learning about products ,” said George Narváez , owner of Littleman Heating in Framingham , Massachusetts . “ It builds my knowledge and confidence when speaking to customers , doing installations or servicing .”
“ I enjoyed getting an up-close look at an Alta boiler that was opened for display ,” he continued . “ The team was fantastic and happy to answer all my questions .”

� BPI TESTING AVAILABLE AT NORA TRAINING CENTER
The National Oilheat Research Alliance announced that its Technical Training Center in Plainview , N . Y ., has been authorized to conduct Building Performance Institute ’ s BPI testing for
Building Science Principles , Building Analyst Technician and Building Analyst Professional certifications .
BPI is a nationally recognized standards and certification entity for home performance contractors . BPI focuses on a “ house as a system approach ,” as it emphasizes the interdependence of buildings and their systems and how they relate to energy consumption . As a result , providing pathways for energy conservation measures .
Individuals that have been trained , tested , and certified to BPI ’ s nationally recognized standards use the house-as-a-system approach to improve the performance of existing homes – an approach proven to reduce homeowner annual utility bills by as much as 20 % or more .
INDIVIDUALS TRAINED , TESTED , AND CERTIFIED TO BPI ’ S STANDARDS USE A ‘ HOUSE-AS-A-SYSTEM ’ APPROACH TO REDUCE HOMEOWNER ANNUAL UTILITY BILLS BY AS MUCH AS 20 % OR MORE .
According to NORA ’ s Director of Education , Bob O ’ Brien , “ BPI certifications are widely valued in the building energy space . Qualified examiners are in great demand by homeowners and state and utility efficiency incentive programs as we embrace a holistic whole-building approach to efficiency , reductions in fuel use and carbon reduction .”
To help prepare candidates for the BPI testing , NORA is also offering comprehensive training classes based upon BPI criteria at the Plainview location .
The Alliance ’ s BPI-approved testing center is one of only three on Long Island , N . Y ., which covers four counties and a population of more than 8 million .
NORA BPI training and testing will be offered in several cycles during the year .
NORA was authorized by Congress in 2000 to generate funding from within the liquid heating fuels industry to provide more reliable heat and hot water to consumers . Its efforts focus on energy efficiency , environmental responsibility , safety , research and development and professional education , with particular emphasis on transitioning liquid heating fuels and appliances to a low-carbon source of heat and hot water .
