R . W . Beckett established the Beckett Training Center in 2007 and was in full training mode in 2008 . From the outset of training , curriculum and instruction was provided by trainer Jim Todd ( aka “ The Professor ”), a veteran of the industry for over 35 years with over 20 years as an instructor within the Connecticut Trade School system , training plumbing and heating apprentices .

Over 4,000 technicians have trained at the training center over the 12 years that classes were scheduled . The Covid pandemic did result in reduced class size and frequency . In the interest of prudent concern for everyone ’ s safety , training was moved primarily online
