capacity is projected to be an estimated 470 million gallons per year of renewable diesel . The new plant is anticipated to commence operations in the second half of 2023 . Once operational , and when combined with the increased capacity at the Norco , Louisiana , facility ( currently 290 million gallons annually with an anticipated increase of 400 million gallons due to be operational later this year ), DGD ’ s total annual production capacity is expected to be approximately 1.2 billion gallons of renewable diesel and 50 million gallons of renewable naphtha . The current estimated construction cost is $ 1.45 billion to be split equally between the joint venture partners and funded from internal cash flows provided by DGD .

Charles E . Summers Jr . is a few months into his new job as president and chief executive officer of the Maine Energy Marketers Association , which includes the association ’ s Technical Education Center . The association serves and supports more than 300 heating oil , propane , biofuels , and motor fuels members in the state .
“ We are excited to bring Charlie back home to Maine to join the MEMA team ,” Mike McCormack of Downeast Energy , MEMA ’ s chairman , said upon Summers ’ appointment in September . “ It ’ s paramount that we effectively communicate to Maine consumers and energy policy influencers that our products and services have been and will continue to be integral to the overall northern New England energy space – Charlie is the right guy to make that happen . Summers brings extensive professional experience to MEMA . He ’ s a recognized leader in the political , military , veteran , and small business communities . Most recently , Summers served as the principal deputy assistant to the secretary of defense ( public affairs ) at the Pentagon .
The Maine Association is a non-profit 501c ( 6 ) whose members include 125 heating oil , propane , biofuels , and motor fuels providers as well as convenience store owners .
