� TURNER TANKS UNDER NEW GENERATION OF FAMILY LEADERSHIP
Turner Tanks , Goldsboro , N . C ., a manufacturer of above-ground , steel storage tanks , announced that Ashley and Duffy Fleming have become the third generation of family ownership .
Turner Tanks was founded in 1939 by Sumpter Turner in Goldsboro . Duffy is the granddaughter of Sumpter Turner . “ Having grown up in this business and seeing the company grow , it means so much to me that my husband and I can step fully into this leadership role ,” said Duffy Fleming . “ Ashley and I make a great team , and we ’ ll do our best to uphold the Turner Tanks mission of producing firstrate products for our clients .” Duffy plans to continue handling the responsibilities of secretary in addition to those of her new role as owner .
As the new president , Ashley Fleming will manage the plant ’ s production , and ensure the upholding of proper procedures and standards .
“ I joined the Turner Tank family in 2008 , two years after Duffy and I married ,” said Ashley . “ It was an opportunity to work with a family-owned , community-minded , established brand , and I ’ m proud to have the chance to be the newest president and carry on the family tradition .”
The pair are assuming their leader and ownership roles from Duffy ’ s parents , Gary and Carol Smithwick . Gary Smithwick joined the company in 1966 and served as the president from 1972 to 2020 . He will continue to work in the company and play a role in training , safety , production , and sales .
Moving forward , the Flemings say they are excited to expand Turner Tanks ’ facilities to allow for increased production area .
