The Moonwalking in Calabasas cocktail is twist on the classic Whiskey Sour . The key to an excellent Whiskey Sour ? Getting the balance just right .
This whiskey sour recipe has all the right proportions of bright , bracing lemon oleo and rhubarb bitters ; warming Uncle Nearest 1856 whiskey ; sweet Averna Amaro and fluffy whipped egg white to deliver a refreshing cocktail with a rich , smoother texture .
The Moonwalking in Calabasas cocktail has a special place in my heart , having created the riff for the annual Uncle Nearest Honor Your Legacy cocktail competition , which I won in 2021 . This led me to my role at Humble Baron , located at the Uncle Nearest distillery in Tennessee .
MOONWALKING IN CALABASAS
1 ½ oz . Uncle Nearest 1856 whiskey ¾ oz . Lemon juice ¾ oz . Simple syrup ½ oz . Averna 6 dashes Rhubarb bitters ½ oz . Egg white
Add whiskey , lemon oleo , Averna Amaro and egg white , if using , to a shaker . Dry-shake for 30 seconds without ice . Add ice and shake again for 15 – 20 seconds , until well chilled . Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice , or into a coupe without ice . Garnish with 3 – 4 drops of rhubarb bitters .
