Bull sharks and a bullish outlook
When I was younger, I was fascinated by sharks. They were also one of my greatest fears. The classic 1975“ Jaws” likely fueled my unreasonable fear – unreasonable because I spent most of my summers on the lakes of Arkansas.
But after I learned about Bull sharks and their ability to survive in freshwater, I couldn’ t forget this not-so-fun fun fact every time I was flung off a tube.
Now, as I learn more about the boating industry and its ecosystem, I’ ve come to appreciate Bull sharks in a new way – not as a predator, but as a symbol of the resilient, adaptable and bold approach needed to thrive in uncertain waters. Like Bull sharks, we can be:
Resilient Bull sharks are uniquely capable of surviving in both salt and freshwater. According to the National Wildlife Federation, they have been found in rivers as far inland as the Mississippi River( a little too close for comfort for me) and the Amazon. Their ability to navigate and survive in changing environments is the kind of resilience the boating industry needs today.
Just as Bull sharks push into new waters, the industry must adapt to shifting markets, evolving consumer trends and economic uncertainty. Resilience starts with each industry professional. When we embrace adaptability, resilience becomes part of the culture within OEMs, boatbuilders, dealerships, marinas and supplier and aftermarket companies.
Aggressive Bull sharks are among the most aggressive sharks, known for their fearless nature and one of the strongest shark bite forces. In the same way, our industry thrives when we take bold, wellplanned action- whether it’ s investing in innovation, refining business strategies or expanding into new markets.

Proud Like Bull sharks play a key role in their ecosystem, the boating industry plays a crucial role in local, national and global economies. What we build, sell and maintain is important, and our dedication makes an impact on millions of lives. Our success is important.
Bullish Our biggest threat is when we fail to see new opportunities. We limit ourselves when we do the same things over and over. We compete when we might be able to collaborate.
Our industry can take a bullish stance and imitate the traits of the Bull shark, embracing innovation, overcoming challenges and seeking new opportunities.
