Participate ( or even sponsor ) career days
Will you walk out of there with a shiny new employee ? Not likely . But is your name in front of a graduating class filled with skilled technicians ? Yes . And will you be able to vet future employees while observing their learning environment ? Yup .

Be the field trip
Bring a small group to your yard or shop to show them what a day in the life looks like . As these students receive job offers , your facility will be front of mind when you reach out . And , you should reach out to these graduating classes , for sure .
Promote the industry
Working in the marine industry can be a lot of fun . Bring your brochures or cards with QR codes that send students to your website . Show these potential employees what it ’ s really like to work outside , with their hands , on and near the water . If your legal team allows , see about bringing them out in boats . Let them see what their lives could be like .

Offer internships and part-time jobs
According to a joint survey administered by the New England Institute of Technology ( Rhode Island ) and ABYC , 93 % of respondents offer part-time work . Bring some students in for that work , or partner with a school on work-study programs and internships .
Donate product or time
Nothing creates brand loyalty like comfort . A student who learns to work with a specific company will develop an inherent brand loyalty . And , if someone from your company spoke to that student ’ s class or attended Career Day , they may be inclined to look in that direction at graduation .
