In 2005 , Boating Industry launched the Top 100 Awards program with one goal : honor the best of the best in marine retailers across North America . And every year since , the program has continued to do just that .

Yet , the Top 100 Awards are much more than just simply celebrating the best . It ’ s about celebrating what makes these retailers the best and how others might be able to learn from them . It ’ s about learning from yourselves and reviewing the year that your organization just experienced and the goals you have ahead .

In short , the Top 100 Awards are about the process . Yes , the applications are A LOT of work . But they were designed with purpose . To ensure not just owners know the business from top to bottom , but that the entire team can communicate and know what the organization stands for , accomplishes and hopes to achieve in the future . Furthermore , and maybe even more importantly , they ’ re designed to help businesses recognize areas of challenge and improvement .

And in its own , the Top 100 Awards program has evolved and changed to its own success in expanding to celebrate not just retailers , but individuals from across all segments of the industry . In 2022 , Boating Industry brought its esteemed 40 Under 40 and Women Making Waves awards under the prestigious Top 100 Awards umbrella .

While the celebration is only one night , the Top 100 Awards are through and through a year-long program , offering retailers , manufacturers , marinas and everyone in between the opportunity to take a look inward with the ultimate goal of growth and success for individuals , businesses and the recreational boating industry as a whole .

Passing the Boating Industry helm Continuing the message of change , I am penning this editor ’ s column as my last at the helm of Boating Industry .

It has been an absolute honor to serve the Boating Industry brand over the last more than seven years , and I am even more honored to have led this historic title over the last three years . Thank you doesn ’ t even begin to cover the gratitude I have to this incredible industry for welcoming me with open arms and for all of the friends I ’ ve made along the way .

And while I ’ m stepping away from the editorial side of Boating Industry , I ’ m very excited to remain involved with the brand in the Top 100 Awards , as the Top 100 Program Director .

I ’ m also thrilled to officially introduce the new Managing Editor of Boating Industry , Madelyn Pegg . With her personal experience in the powersports and marine worlds , along with an admirable passion to learn and lead , I know that the helm of BI is passing to very capable hands .
