“ We have been delighted with the reception our Propelling our Future research has received whenever we present it and we are pleased to be able to share yet more insight , showing the importance of typical usage scenarios and how this could affect the optimum propulsion technology selected ,” Joe Lynch , ICOMIA CEO said .
Advocacy “ From an advocacy standpoint , we ’ ve had an incredibly successful year ,” Hugelmeyer said .
This is mostly seen in the association ’ s and industry ’ s win in delaying the vessel speed rule proposed by NOAA , threatening boating on much of the eastern seaboard .
Industry advocacy has long been a key pillar of NMMA ’ s efforts in the marine industry and one that will only increase in 2025 and beyond . NMMA and industry stakeholders are eagerly preparing for 2025 and the changeover in the U . S . Government from the White House to Congress .
“ Every four years we go through a very significant transition , whether administration changes over or continues ,” Huglemeyer said . “ When you have a shift like we have this coming year , we spend a lot of time working with transition teams to understand what their priorities are as we head into the new year .”
One area the NMMA and industry are watching with close eyes heading into a new administration is the issue surrounding potential trade tariffs that could impact the recreational boating industry .
“ Everything we ’ re doing right now is preparing for those first 100 days , building relationships with new appointees that have been named and continuing meetings with the committee chairs that will be taking power in the senate and the house ,” Hugelmeyer noted .
Forward to the new year
Returning to the question “ Are we at the bottom ?” that has been surrounding the industry over the last year , industry stakeholders , including the NMMA , say most likely .
While the industry is still facing headwinds and concerns , largely in the form of potential tariffs , there is a renewed sense of optimism around the recreational boating industry and its leaders , across dealers and manufacturers , and all in-between .
“ I believe we ’ re going to see the beginnings of the market recovering this next year ,” Hugelmeyer said . “ We ’ re seeing interest rates start to go down , we ’ ve seen inflation ebb , we ’ ve got a new administration that is determined to extend and renew tax cuts that have been helpful to the industry in the past . All of those are good signs for the market to continue to strengthen and recover .” get Boating Industry on the go
