A CHANGEMAKER FOR FIVE DECADES Fetzer Vineyards , which has been using sustainable practices in its winegrowing for 50 years , was recently recognized as a “ Changemaker ” by the nonprofit B Lab , which recognizes global B Corporations making positive improvements to their environmental impacts . Fetzer was also a “ Momentum for Change ” award recipient last year at the U . N . Climate Change Conference .
In order to be a certifi ed B Corporation , companies must meet rigorous standards for social and environmental
performance in four areas : governance , workers , environment and community .
“ We ’ re humbled by this recognition , which highlights our efforts to continue to evolve and improve our sustainability initiatives ,” COO Cindy DeVries said . “ We have a strong foundation of environmental focus dating to the last century , and today we ’ re expanding on that to increase our overall positive impact as a company .”
A COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY Since its first vineyards were planted in 1924 , Delicato Family Vineyards has been committed to environmental stewardship , calling it “ a cornerstone of the business ,” according to CEO Chris Indelicato .
In 2017 , DFV completed the installation of a solar system at Black Stallion Estate Winery , which includes more than 1,000 panels generating 347.9 KW of capacity . The company also received a certification for all of its facilities recently .
“ We ’ re cerfitied by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance , a program of the California Wine Institute ,” Indelicato says . “ This represents a statewide standard in
