THE FIRST OF MANY
THIS YEAR , FOR THE FIRST TIME , Beverage Dynamics has named its Top 100 Retailers . This awards program builds on decades of naming one or more Retailers of the Year , and reflects our commitment to recognize the best independent , off-premise retailers in the country .
The Top 100 isn ’ t about sales volume or store count – it recognizes retailers who live by best practices that can benefit the whole industry . Our panel of judges considers hiring and training programs , customer service philosophy , marketing and advertising mix , category management and dozens of other factors when deciding who deserves to make the list .
This year , the top five includes one single-store operation , three chains with between 5 and 20 stores , and one large regional chain . The full list of winners also includes three control state agencies and a handful of municipal stores . It ’ s this variety that strengthens the overall independent marketplace . When the winners came together on the final night of the Beverage Alcohol Retailers Conference , the networking and sharing of best practices lasted well beyond the cocktail

hour , banquet and awards presentation . Dozens of retailers were sharing stories well into the night , and hopefully will continue to do so throughout the year .
