When the Beverage Information Group editorial team opened up nominations for our first-ever 40 Under 40 program , we didn ’ t know what to expect . Our publications have long recognized the best retailers , operators and control state agencies through our Top 100 , BevX and Best Practices Awards . But we ’ d never sought out young leaders within the beverage alcohol industry .
After reviewing many more entries than we hoped to receive in our first year – from suppliers to wholesalers to industry vendors – I can confidently say the next generation is creative , innovative , determined and ready to lead .
The 40 honorees listed in this magazine represent a fraction of the up-and-comers in their 20s and 30s driving change in beverage alcohol . Some trace their family business roots back four generations , while others stumbled upon a career by chance and fell in love with beer , wine and spirits . However they arrived in their current position , they ’ ve all earned the respect of their colleagues and peers in the industry .
The 40 members of our inaugural Beverage Information Group 40 Under 40 class will be honored during a special reception in Chicago on June 17 during a co-location of three industry events : the Activate National Accounts Meeting , Beverage Alcohol Retailers Conference and Cheers Beverage Summit .
