MOTORCYCLE 32 • November 6, 2017 • Powersports Business www.PowersportsBusiness.com Harley-Davidson tops all OEMs in views BY LISA PELISSIER CONTRIBUTING WRITER Honda dominated the top 10 most-researched metric cruisers list, taking eight spots on the list with its VTX1300 and Shadow 750 series. Eight of the top 10 metric cruisers were also in the top 10 a year ago. New motorcycles to this list for 2017 are the 2006 Suzuki C50 and the 2005 Honda Shadow 750 Aero. They replaced the 2002 and 2003 Honda VTX1800C in the top 10. TOP 10 METRIC CRUISERS BY MANUFACTURER The Hondas on the top 10 list were the same models in the top 10 a year ago. With the exception of Honda, all the manu- facturers saw larger bikes drop out of their top 10 lists. The 2007 Vulcan 1600 Nomad fell from the top 10 Kawasaki cruisers list. Suzuki saw the 2006 M109R fall below No. 10. And the Yamaha 2007 V Star 1300, 2007 V Star 1300 Tourer and 2011 Stryker also slipped out of the top 10. Notable is the 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S ABS, the newest model to appear as one of the top 10 cruisers for any of the four manufacturers. With the exception of this Kawasaki, no bikes newer than model year 2009 appear on the lists this year. TOP CRUISER MANUFACTURERS In addition to receiving almost half of all page views for cruiser type bikes, Harley-Davidson has also shown the greatest gains in share of interest on KBB.com over the past four years. Victory and Indian were the only manufac- turers besides Harley-Davidson to show a gain in percentage of KBB.com page views for 2017 year-to-date over 2016. Honda, Triumph and Ducati remained steady compared to last year. The top 10 cruiser manufacturers have received 98.7 percent of KBB.com page views for cruisers so far this year. This is a slight gain from the same period last year. PSB Lisa Pelissier is a senior powersports analyst for Kelley Blue Book.
