The Premier Opportunity for Education and Networking Each year at this time, we provide blowout coverage of the Green Industry & Equipment Expo (GIE+EXPO) and Hardscape North America (HNA). However, the bulk of our preview is related to GIE+EXPO and HNA, the show fl oor, the outdoor demo area and the related workshops going on at the Kentucky Exposition Center. There is so much to cover, that I feel we could never truly do justice to the LANDSCAPES portion of the event. LANDSCAPES, presented by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP), is billed as "GIE+EXPO's Premier Education and Networking Experience." According to NALP, in addition to access to the GIE+EXPO fl oor and the outdoor demonstration area (which are included with registration), LANDSCAPES allows attendees to learn from other landscape contractors and crew members on what it takes to build a successful company at the Breakfast With Champions; connect with experts at one of fi ve cocktail receptions or one on one with a Trailblazer mentor; earn CEUs for Landscape Industry Certifi ed recertifi cation; discover partnership opportunities; learn current trends, strategies and tactics at the Specialty Summits; and meet students who are ready to enter the landscape industry at the Student/Industry Roundtable event. LANDSCAPES 2017 will also feature a keynote address by Ron "Jaws" Jaworski, former NFL quarterback turned CEO of Ron Jaworski Golf Management Inc. Educational opportunities at LANDSCAPES 2017 abound as well. Specialty Summits on October 18 are offered in three different tracks: Design/Build/ Installation, Landscape Management, and Lawn Care. On October 19, following Breakfast With Champions, Roger Phelps of Stihl Inc. will present a Power Session titled "Your Business Has a Great Story, But is Anyone Listening?" while Judy Guido of Guido and Associates will moderate a session titled "Shark Tank, the LANDSCAPES 2017 Edition!" The October 19 Power Sessions will be followed by concurrent sessions on topics such as scaling and growing your business, human resources tips, leadership skills, social media, mobile workforce management technology, account management, Millennials, online marketing, insurance, and more. October 20 will kick off with the Breakfast With Champions followed by the Student Employer Roundtable and then a Power Session. The October 20 Power Session is titled "CEOs Unplugged," and will provide unprecedented access to some of the most successful CEOs from the lawn care, landscape management, and design/build sectors. These relaxed sessions will give attendees the chance to ask questions in an informal, conversational environment. The October 20 concurrent sessions will focus on topics such as budgeting, recruiting, decision making, sales, employee compensation, selling your business, sustainable business practices, QuickBooks and much more. LANDSCAPES 2017 also boasts a full slate of networking opportunities, including one- on-one sessions with NALP Trailblazers, a newcomers reception, an opening party, PAC reception, young professionals reception, awards dinner, Dutch-treat dine around, and, of course, free concerts each night at Fourth Street Live! The LANDSCAPES 2017 schedule at a glance is included in our show preview section in this issue, but for more information, including detailed descriptions of everything LANDSCAPES 2017 has to offer, visit landscapes/home.aspx. From GIE+EXPO to HNA to LANDSCAPES 2017, there are plenty of opportunities to improve yourself and your business October 18-20. See you in Louisville!
