The chart on Page 37 focuses on the aver- age retail dollars that were spent on acces- sories when buyers purchased an accessory. The trend in accessory sales indicates that UTV buyers find value in accessories during the colder months. The average amount of retail dollars spent on accessories peaked at $1,823 in January 2017. Between November 2016 and January 2017, the average retail amount spent on UTV accessories was above the $1,600 mark. A total of 22 percent of the total new UTV units sold were sold during this same time frame. On average, 55 percent of units sold between November 2016 and January 2017 were sold with an accessory. The U.S Percent of New Unit Sales with No Accessories charts (Page 22 and 36) focus on the percentage of units that were sold without an accessory. For the second year in a row, Montana has outfitted the most UTVs with accessories. In addition to selling the highest percentage of retail accessory dollars, three out of every four UTVs sold in Montana go out the door with an accessory. The inverse can be seen in the California region, where three out of every four UTVs go out the door without accessories. At 83 per- cent, Hawaii sold the lowest percent of UTVs with an add-on. This number has decreased 14 percent from last year, where Hawaii sold 97 percent of UTVs without an accessory. This is the most dramatic increase in accessory sales seen in this study.
