FOCUS PSB CDK Global study shows only 1 in 3 are sold with an accessory at time of bike purchase Over the last 10 years, the percentage of new adventure touring units sold compared to all new motorcycle sales has increased 6 percent. In 2007, adventure touring units made up 5 per- cent of all new motorcycle sales. In the last two years, adventure touring unit sales have made up 11 percent of all new motorcycle sales. Those are among the discoveries shared by an exhaus- tive study of the ADV market by CDK Global Recreation. Composite data is taken from deal- erships that use CDK's Lightspeed DMS. In this sample of 31,926 new adventure touring units sold between June 1, 2016, and May 31, 2017, 17 percent of units sold included a trade. A total of 83 percent of units sold did not have a trade. The average actual cash value of units taken in as trade was $5,840. A total of 35 percent of trades taken in on a new adventure touring model were a used unit of the same kind. Not surprisingly, the next two top-traded models were the sport and touring motorcycle models, at 18 percent and 15 percent, respectively. Adventure touring, sport and touring motorcycle models account for 68 percent of trades taken in for a new adventure touring model.
