www.PowersportsBusiness.com MOTORCYCLE Powersports Business • July 10, 2017 • 35 Behind strong sales of bikes from Honda and Kawasaki, the off-road motorcycle segments saw impressive growth in select metro demo- graphic areas on a 12-month rolling basis through March 2017, according to the latest data from Statistical Surveys, Inc. There were seven basic trading areas (BTA) with double-digit growth through March, compared to the year-ago period. Salt Lake City-Ogden in Utah showed 20 percent year- over-year growth in off-road motorcycle sales, with Dallas-Fort Worth and San Diego both at 18 percent growth. San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose followed with 17 percent growth, ahead of Seattle-Tacoma at 16 percent. Meanwhile, Houston off-road bike sales grew by 15 percent, and Los Angeles saw 10 percent growth. Denver (up 6 percent) and Phoenix (up 4 percent) also contributed to total U.S. off-road motorcycle growth of 8 per- cent for the period. Among the top-selling units were the CRF50, CRF110, KLX110, KLX140 and CRF125.
