FOCUS PSB UTV-Sport www.PowersportsBusiness.com Powersports Business • July 10, 2017 • 29 it did last year, the new SS (Sport Shift) special- edition trim claimed the No. 3 spot. Kawasaki's Teryx4 LE nabbed the No. 10 slot. Kawasaki's Teryx4 is one of three four-pas- senger vehicles on the list this year. Last year, the only crew model on the list was Polaris' RZR XP 4 1000 EPS. This year, in addition to the Teryx4 and returning RZR XP 4 1000 EPS, the RZR XP 4 Turbo EPS also made the cut. Due to the increased interest in larger vehi- cles as well as mid- and top-of-the-line trims over base trims, there was an increase in the average Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value of the top 10 models, notably among the top five models. The current Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value of the top five models ranges between $15,895 and $20,445. This comes out to an average value of $18,317, which is higher by 10 percent than the aver- age value of the top five during the same time period last year. Despite the double-digit per- centage change of the top five, the average value of the overall top 10 models is $17,024 — which is up 4 percent compared to the top 10 current model year sport UTVs of a year ago. TOP 10 SPORT UTVS — ALL MODEL YEARS 2017 YEAR-TO-DATE In 2015 and 2016, the No. 1 position among top sport UTVs had been firmly held by the 2008 Polaris RZR. For year-to-date 2017, it was no different. The remaining nine spots are still held by Polaris. The 2015 RZR XP 1000 EPS continued to make its way up the list this year and nabbed the No. 2 position away from the 2013 RZR S 800 that held the position last year. The 2016 edition of the RZR XP 1000 EPS joined its predecessor on this list for the first time and came in at No. 8. Another newcomer to this list was the 2015 RZR 900 EPS Trail. The average year-over-year decrease in Kel- ley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value for the top 10 models was 7 percent. The average year- over-year decrease of the top 10 models one year ago was only 2 percent. TOP 10 SPORT UTVS (EXCLUDING POLARIS) — ALL MODEL YEARS 2017 YEAR-TO-DATE Excluding Polaris from the analysis of the top 10 sport UTVs researched on KBB.com showed a mix of vehicles from Can-Am, Yamaha, Arctic Cat and Kawasaki. Can-Am claimed four spots and took the top spot with its 2013 Maverick 1000R X rs. Additional Maverick trims claimed the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 9 positions. Both of Yamaha's 2016 YXZ1000R trims placed within the top five at No. 2 and No. 5. Arctic Cat took three spots on the bottom five of the list — two with the 2014 Wildcat Trail trims and the third with the 2012 Wildcat 1000i GT. The other vehicle in the bottom five of the list was the 2014 Kawasaki Teryx4 4x4 LE, which placed at No. 8. The average year-over-year decrease in Kel- ley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value for this modified top 10 list was 5 percent. PSB Hoa Ly is a senior powersports analyst at Kelley Blue Book.
